College and Workforce Readiness is based on the following
principles:
- To be successful in the twenty-first
century all students graduating from high school must have an education
beyond high school before entering the work force.
- Based on recent studies, the academic
and personal skills required to enter the workforce are the same skills
necessary to be successful in post-secondary education or college.
-
Students are preparing to enter three
levels of post-secondary education based on their admissions
selectivity--colleges and programs with open enrollments; colleges with
selective admissions; and colleges and universities with highly selective
admissions.
-
Counseling of students for their
post-secondary lives must be a total effort of the school and community
involving students, parents, teachers, counselors, and principals.
